Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is the process of facilitating a state of hypnosis and then making strong positive suggestions directly to the subconscious mind. It is thought to work by shutting down the conscious mind that we use in every day functioning and giving direct access to our subconscious mind. Since the subconscious mind is the deep seated more instinctive part of the mind it is this part that has to change in order to make any change to your behaviour or physical state.
Hypnosis is a state between fully waking and sleep, often referred to as trance. As it is a more relaxed state, your breathing will become slower and deeper and your pulse and metabolic rate will slow. Most people will have experienced hypnosis in the transistion from wake to sleep or vice versa, or when carrying out a routine task such as driving. Some people experience trance far deeper than others and often it takes much practice to slip easily into deep trance. Some people experience strange feelings during trance such as body distortion, or believe that they are making movements they are not; whilst it may feel strange it is all a normal part of hypnosis! It is now generally believed that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis and that the therapist is merely a facilitator. This means you are in control for the duration and although deeply relaxed can bring yourself out of the state at any given time. You will be aware of the therapists voice at all times, have a full recollection following the treatment, and cannot be made to do anything under hypnosis you do not want to do. Hypnotherapy is suitable for treating a range of issues including the following, which are all offered through Griffin Therapy:

If you require hypnotherapy for a reason which does not appear on this list, please call or use the contact formfor further information. There is a common mis-conception that as quit smoking is dealt with in one session this is how hypnotherapy is used and that it is some sort of quick-fix cure-all, this is not the case. The way that I work as a hypnotherapist is that the first session is ALWAYS a full consultation there is unlikely to be any hypnosis at all and if there is it will only be a brief introduction. The reason for this is to fully explore your issue and ensure that the suggestions I am making to you under hypnosis are the right ones for you. Your issue may need to be dealt with layer by layer, and or need much reinforcement, and new things may come to light throughout the course of your treatment. Therefore most issues are dealt with in 4 to 6 sessions, some deeper rooted issues or those with longer term goals may require more than that. Please let me know if any of the following relate to you as you may be an unsuitable candidate for hypnotherapy and will certainly require GP consent
